Who is Sha’Carri RICHARDSON
Sha’Carri Richardson is an American track and field sprinter who competes in the 100 meters and 200 meters races. She gained prominence during her freshman year at Louisiana State University in 2019 when she broke the 100 m collegiate record by running it in 10.75 seconds at the NCAA Division I Championships. This achievement made her one of the ten fastest women in history at just 19 years old.
In April 2021, Richardson achieved a new personal best of 10.72 seconds, making her the sixth-fastest woman of all time (at that time) and the fourth-fastest American woman in history. She qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics after winning the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 10.86 seconds at the United States Olympic Trials. Unfortunately, she tested positive for cannabis use following her 100 m final at the U.S. Trials, which invalidated her win and made her ineligible to compete in the 100 m at the Olympics. However, after completing a counseling program, she accepted a one-month period of ineligibility that began on June 28, 2021.
In July 2023, Richardson became the US national champion in the women’s 100 meters at the 2023 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, clocking an impressive 10.82 seconds. She continued her winning streak by securing gold in the 100 m at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, setting a new championships record with a lightning-fast time of 10.65 seconds. On the same day, she also contributed to Team USA’s victory in the women’s 4x100m relay final, achieving a championship record of 41.03 seconds.
Before her college career, as a teenager, Sha’Carri Richardson won the 100 m title at the AAU Junior Olympics and the USATF Junior Olympics in 2016 and 2017, respectively. She made her international debut at the 2017 Pan American U20 Athletics Championships, where she secured a gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay.
From hometown hero to high-fashion queen, life comes full circle for her
